Pearlized film

Pearlescent film is created by adding a pearlescent masterbatch during production. The pearlescent effect occurs due to microscopic air bubbles that form around calcium carbonate particles. During the longitudinal and transverse stretching process (biaxial orientation), these bubbles expand, causing light to scatter and reflect in a way that produces an iridescent, pearl-like shine.

In the packaging industry, pearlescent film is most commonly used in 30 or 35 micron thicknesses. It is typically printed upon and is often laminated with transparent or matte films to create high-value, visually appealing packaging.

Types of Pearlized Film

  1. Heat-Sealable Pearlized Film

    • Density: 0.7 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³)

  2. Non-Heat-Sealable Pearlized Film

    • Density: 0.7 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³)

Applications of Pearlized Film

  • Packaging for various biscuits, wafers, and similar dry foods.

  • Used as an overwrap for chocolates and toffees.

  • Printed film, often used in lamination structures.

  • For use in various HFFS (Horizontal Form-Fill-Seal) and VFFS (Vertical Form-Fill-Seal) packaging machines.

  • Suitable for both single-layer and multi-layer packaging applications.
