Metallized film

Metallized film is produced by depositing a layer of vaporized aluminum onto a base film. In this process, aluminum metal is vaporized under high vacuum conditions and condensed onto the film's surface. The result is an extremely thin metallic layer, approximately 0.02 microns thick.

This microscopic aluminum layer significantly reduces the permeability of oxygen, moisture, and other gases. This superior barrier property substantially extends the shelf life of packaged food products.

Metallized film is available in both heat-sealable and non-heat-sealable types. It is commonly produced in 20 and 25 micron thicknesses for printing and is most often used as a laminate in multi-layer packaging structures.

Applications of Metallized Film
